The London City Airport Annual Art Awards sponsored by Newham are a art competition for artists and photographers, either amateur or professional, living within the local vicinity of the Airport.
All 24 entries submitted by the closing date are now on display in the Airport terminal building. This year the prizes include £500, £300 and £200 for First, Second and Third Prize.
Richard Gooding, Chief Executive of London City Airport said, “I am amazed by the really creative artwork which has been submitted. Deciding which entries should be put forward for the final display was such a tough choice that we decided that all of this year’s entries would be exhibited in the terminal”.
Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales said, “At Newham we are always keen to support up and coming talent and the Annual Art Awards is the perfect platform for budding artists. I wish all of the artists the very best of luck but having the opportunity to have their work viewed by over 8 thousand passengers each day is an award in itself”.
The winners will be announced at a prize giving reception in early June. The exhibition will be on display in the Airport terminal building until Thursday 7 June 2007.
