The Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival which took place in Birchmere Park was a huge success and attracted over 15,000 people for a family afternoon of fun in the sunshine.
The festival was split into different zones which were jam packed with things to do. The Activity Zone included a climbing wall sponsored by London City Airport. Used to publicise The cAve, an indoor climbing wall centre in Thamesmead, the wall was popular throughout the afternoon with people of all ages eager to camber to the very top. Accustomed to helping people reach new heights, London City Airport has sponsored the Climbing Wall at the Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival for three consecutive years.
Elizabeth Hegarty, London City Airport Community Relations Manager said “education, employment, employee volunteering and health & wellbeing in the community are the many areas on which London City Airport focuses. Our continued support of the Activity Zone at the Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival is one of the many ways in which we promote healthy living”
London City Airport also donated a pair of return tickets to Zurich with two nights bed and breakfast courtesy of the Radisson SAS Hotel for a prize draw.
London City Airport regularly works with Trust Thamesmead, Greenwich Council and the Greenwich Education Business Partnership to develop new and existing partnerships with key community organisations in the area.
