Due to technical problems at the NATS control centre, which controls London's airspace, flights are being disrupted across all London airports. As soon as the fault is rectified we will resume normal service as quickly as possible.
London City Airport is seeking entries for the 12th Annual Art Awards, sponsored by London Borough of Newham.
Residents who live locally to the airport are invited to submit an entry following the theme of health, sport and fitness.
A shortlisted selection of artwork will be on display in London City Airport’s terminal throughout the month of April 2009, seen by almost 300,000 travelling passengers.
The winners will be announced at a reception taking place at the airport at the end of April. The lucky winners will receive £500, £300 and £200 for first, second and third prize. Three runners up, selected as Highly Commended will each be awarded signed football memorabilia courtesy of West Ham United Football Club.
“This year’s theme is in line with the airport’s focus on promoting health and well-being in the community. We always receive such an outstanding selection of entries to the competition and I am really looking forward to seeing the interpretations of this year’s topic.” said Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport.
Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham said: “The London City Airport Annual Art Awards highlight some of the first-rate talent we have in and around Newham. Art is a subject which can be enjoyed by people of all ages so I encourage you all to great creative”.
