London City Airport has donated £1,200 to purchase a new pony for Newham Riding School in Beckton.
The four year old pony, recently re-named ‘Just William’, was acquired in memory of Bill Dunlop who was the founder of the Riding School and a long-standing member of the airport’s consultative committee.
A celebratory event to welcome ‘Just William’ took place at the Riding School on 22 October and was attended by Bill’s friends and family including his daughters Julia and Margaret, along with the airport’s chief executive, Richard Gooding, airport community team, members of the consultative committee and many current and past local residents.
The Riding School is a well known association that provides affordable riding lessons for all ages and abilities (disabled and non-disabled young people in the London Borough of Newham) teaching basic riding skills to underprivileged local children.
London City Airport has supported the Riding School since 1996 and has worked closely with the school to raise awareness and funds for the association.
