British Airways has hit record on-time departures at London City Airport where it is officially the most punctual scheduled carrier on some key business routes including Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In the latest On Target Performance figures for last year issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, British Airways was the most punctual airline from the Docklands airport to no fewer than six destinations.
The British Airways double daily service from London City to New York, the only long haul destination served from the airport, had the best punctuality overall with 92 per cent of flights departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure time.
Domestic and European flights from London City are operated by wholly owned British Airways subsidiary airline BA CityFlyer who overall were the seventh most punctual operator in 2011 out of a pool of 35 airlines.
It clocked up the most on time departures to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Amsterdam, out of five airlines, Madrid, out of six airlines and Zurich, out of five airlines.
