London City Airport is the only airport actually located in the heart of London - less than 5 minutes from the world-class events venue ExCel London, 17 minutes from the site of the 2012 Olympic Games and Westfield shopping centre, 14 minutes from Canary Wharf (home to many of Europe's top companies), 22 minutes from the City of London (London’s financial district) and 30 minutes from London's West End (Houses of Parliament, the Millennium Wheel, the River Thames and so on).
London City Airport is now the best connected airport in the UK. A Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station is located next to the Terminal entrance, making transport to and from the Airport fast and convenient for all passengers.
The DLR departs London City Airport every 8 to 15 minutes with journey times of less than 7 minutes to Canning Town or Woolwich Arsenal.
51% of our passengers use the DLR service when commuting to and from London City Airport. Other transport options include taxis, car hire and buses.
A licensed taxi rank is located directly outside the Terminal with up to 400 taxis in the morning rush hour. London City Airport and Heathrow are the only London airports to offer the official London black taxi. Fares from London City Airport to the City are about 50% cheaper than from Heathrow.
There are fast road links to and from the Airport with two car parks right next to the Terminal (Short and Main Stay).
Three car hire companies operate at the Airport: Avis, Europcar and Hertz. There is also a chauffeur car hire service operated by Quay Vennards.
