The London City Airport Consultative Committee (LCACC) celebrated its 20th anniversary in July 2007. To mark the occasion, the chief executive of London City Airport, Richard Gooding, paid tribute to the work of the committee over the years.
The chairman of the committee, John Adshead, deputy chairman Bill Dunlop and committee secretary Stuart Innes were also recognised for their longstanding commitment to LCACC. Stuart Innes commented “the committee has developed and it is now a key part of the machinery through which the airport relates to its users and neighbours. It has been a great privilege to have helped bring this about". The trio have worked with the committee since its first meeting on Tuesday 30th June 1987. Since then there had been 102 meetings and it was remarked that Stuart Innes had attended every single one.
Attending the celebratory event was Stephen Timms MP who attended the committee's first meeting as Leader of Newham Council. He is now Minister of State at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The newly appointed Civic Ambassador of Newham, Councillor Omana Gangadharan, also attended with her husband.
The LCACC plays an integral part in the development of the airport as it provides an independent portal for representatives of the local communities, local public agencies and airport users to address airport issues including the environment, planning and the concerns of local people.
