CityJet Launches Second Route To Germany With Scheduled Service To Nuremberg

26/10/2012

CityJet, the airline that flies from the heart of London, has announced the launch of flights to Nuremberg in Germany. Starting on 27 January 2013, a scheduled service from London City Airport will operate up to twice a day and can be booked by clicking here

The new German route has been announced as the carrier prepares to begin flights to Münster-Osnabrück, its first German destination, on October 29th. The Nuremberg route will be served by an Avro RJ 85 aircraft. CityJet will be operating two flights a day Monday - Friday and a single flight the weekend. The new route increases CityJet’s network to 20 European destinations across Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK.

Says Christine Ourmières, CEO, CityJet, “Nuremberg is a key business hub in Europe given its position as the capital of Germany’s industrial heartland.  It is the head office location for many of Germany’s multi-nationals such as Siemens, Puma and Adidas and it plays host to several international trade fairs.  Taking its business and leisure credentials together, it was a clear cut decision for CityJet to launch a new year-round service to Nuremberg, further extending our network into Germany, following the launch of Münster-Osnabrück this Monday 29th October.”

About Nuremberg

Business

Nuremberg is host to several of Germany and Europe’s largest trade fairs which draw in thousands of visitors every year, including the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, the largest of its kind in the world. The city is also home to NürnbergMesse, one of the twenty largest exhibition companies in the world, organising 120 exhibitions in Nuremberg and worldwide which attract 30,000 exhibitors and 1 million visitors each year.

Alongside the head offices of Siemens, Adidas and Puma, the global headquarters of Staedtler, Faber-Castell and Stabilo are also based in Nuremberg.

Leisure

The historic city of Nuremberg has stayed true to its past with a picturesque medieval old town and a wide range of museums showcasing the city’s history in printing and the arts.

Nuremberg’s Christmas market is Germany’s oldest and most famous, attracting over a million shoppers every year. Other key annual events include the Norisring Race, a motor sports event with other 100,000 spectators, and the Rock in the Park music festival. Also attracting leisure travellers are the charming daily farmer’s market in the main square and Nuremberg Zoo, one of Germany’s most unique animal parks.

Editors note

London City Airport (LCY) is the only London airport situated in London itself, just three miles from Canary Wharf, seven miles from the City and 10 miles from London’s West End and linked to all via the Docklands Light Railway. Infrastructure improvements in 2011 catered for 3 million passengers and 70,000 movements, while in 2012 LCY celebrated its millionth flight, 35 millionth passenger and 25 years of operation. LCY offers a unique 20/10 proposition – a 20 minute check in, from door to gate, and a 10 minute arrival, from tarmac to train. 10 airlines fly out of LCY, serving 42 destinations, including Dublin, Madrid and Geneva . Seven new destinations were added in 2012, and the airport has permission to increase its operation to 120,000 movements per annum.
