London City Airport is easy to reach by public transport, with a fast Docklands Light Railway service linking to London’s Underground and national rail stations.

The July 2008 issue of Business Traveller magazine rated London City Airport as having the best public transport links in the world. 

Oyster cards can be used on all forms of public transport; it is preferable to purchase cards in advance.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

The Docklands Light Railway is an overground system connecting East London to the London Underground network.

The London City Airport DLR station is connected to the airport Terminal making transport to and from the Airport fast and convenient.

The Airport is located in Zone 3. Oyster cards and tickets can be purchased at the DLR counter adjacent to the Airport Terminal.

The DLR departs London City Airport every 8 to 15 minutes, with journey times of less than 7 minutes to Canning Town or Woolwich Arsenal and 17 minutes to Stratford International.

Bus

* In connection with Crossrail construction work, bus routes 473 and 474 will be diverted. Work had commenced from 6 April 2013 and will be completed by 2015.

Bus number 473 will start and finish at London City Airport and will not serve Albert Road or the Woolwich Free Ferry.

Bus number 474 towards Canning Town will be diverted between Gallions Reach roundabout and London City Airport, running nonstop via Royal Albert Way.

Free shuttle bus 573 will run a one way loop from London City Airport via Albert Road, Woolwich Free Ferry and Woolwich Manor Way, then non-stop to Prince Regent (DLR) station and return to London City Airport.

Passengers should change at Prince Regent Station for bus number 473 or London City Airport for bus number 473 or 474

Train

If you are travelling out of London, National Rail can provide service information including timetables and routes. The closest National Rail stations include London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford International. All three stations can be reached via the Jubilee line from Canning Town which is a seven minute DLR journey from the Airport.
